This is a national key discipline and National Clinical Key Specialty, and the founding and leading discipline of nasal endoscopic surgery in China. It has six subspecialties including rhinology, otology, laryngo-head-neck surgery and seven clinical diagnosis and treatment centers. It is at a leading level in China in nasal endoscopic minimally invasive surgery, comprehensive treatment of head and neck tumors and diagnosis and treatment of deafness, tinnitus and vertigo.

The Nephrology Department of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University was established in 1973, a national key discipline and a Guangdong Provincial Clinical Key Specialty. It has multiple campuses including Tianhe and Luogang, with blood purification and peritoneal dialysis centers. 95% of physicians hold doctorate degrees, excelling in glomerulonephritis, renal failure and difficult and critical diseases, at a leading level in China in IgA nephropathy and diabetic nephropathy.

The Child Development and Behavior Center of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University is the earliest-established diagnosis and intervention base for child developmental disorders in China. It is at the top level in China in the assessment and intervention of autism spectrum disorder, ADHD and language delay.

Established in 1978, this is a national key discipline and doctoral degree authorization point. It is at a leading level in China in cerebrovascular disease, neuroimmune diseases, central nervous system infections and neurodegenerative diseases, with a national "advanced stroke center" and multiple specialized disease centers.

The Dermatology and Venereology Department of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University was established in 1979, one of the backbone departments in the field of dermatology and venereology in China, also a national skin medical cosmetology demonstration base and a Guangdong Provincial Clinical Key Specialty. It excels in the diagnosis and treatment of various infectious, allergic and difficult skin diseases, at an advanced level in China in fungal diseases, cosmetic skin diseases, skin cosmetology and skin tumors.

The Endocrinology Department of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University is a key center for diabetes and metabolic disease diagnosis and treatment in China. It has core advantages in diabetic complication management, obesity treatment and rare endocrine diseases, undertaking multiple national major research projects.

The General Surgery Department of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University is a national key discipline with a complete disciplinary structure, covering gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, thyroid-breast and vascular subspecialties. It has strong technical strength, was one of the earliest in China to carry out laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery, and is at a leading position in the industry in radical gastrointestinal tumor surgery, liver transplantation and complex hepatobiliary-pancreatic disease diagnosis and treatment.
