A Guangdong provincial key clinical specialty, ranked in the national top 30 for medical oncology among provincial hospitals. The Oncology Department is a council member of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, the founding chair unit of its Prostate Tumor Integrated Rehabilitation Committee, the founding chair unit of the Guangdong Medical Education Association's Oncology Diagnosis & Treatment Technology Translation Committee, the founding chair unit of the Guangdong Hospital Association's Oncology New Technology Translation & Management Committee, and served as the third and fourth term chair unit of the Guangdong Medical Association's Radiotherapy Branch. It is one of the earliest units in South China to establish radiotherapy for tumors, with distinctive and nationally/internationally leading subspecialties in prostate, liver and thoracic tumors.

A national key clinical specialty construction project. Orthopedics has a complete set of subspecialty divisions including spine surgery, joint surgery, trauma surgery, sports medicine, pediatric orthopedics, foot and ankle surgery, and bone and soft tissue tumors, performing more than 8,000 surgeries annually. It has accumulated rich clinical experience, reaching internationally advanced and domestically leading levels, especially in complex spinal deformity correction, hip and knee replacement and revision for severe deformities, endoscopic cervical and thoracic spine surgery, arthroscopic repair of massive rotator cuff injuries, and surgical correction of limb deformities in children caused by rare diseases.

Nuclear Medicine is a comprehensive department integrating clinical care, teaching and research, holding the top spot in South China on the Fudan specialty rankings for six consecutive years. It is Guangdong's first doctoral degree program in nuclear medicine, the lead unit for provincial resident standardized training, and the chair unit of the provincial nuclear medicine innovation consortium. Equipped with internationally first-class diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and a radiopharmaceutical R&D and translation platform, it houses five diagnosis and treatment centers, offering precise molecular imaging diagnosis for tumors, neuropsychiatric and cardiovascular diseases, as well as multiple precise radionuclide treatments including thyroid diseases, bone metastases, prostate cancer and Y-90 microsphere interventional therapy for liver cancer.

Medical Imaging relies on an internationally advanced imaging equipment platform and integrates Jinan University's multidisciplinary strengths in science, engineering and medicine to build a comprehensive multi-level, multi-technology research platform. The discipline focuses on four frontier fields — molecular imaging, radiomics, functional brain imaging and biomaterial development — conducting interdisciplinary innovative research dedicated to advancing the clinical translation of medical imaging technology.

A national standard training center and national advanced stroke center. Neurology is among the first comprehensive stroke centers in the country, a demonstration unit for intravenous thrombolysis of cerebral infarction, and a national training base for neurointerventional fellowship under the National Health Commission's capacity building and continuing education program. With cerebrovascular disease as the leading strength, it has fostered a new pattern where epilepsy and intelligent EEG remote networks, Parkinson's disease and cognitive disorders, neurogenetics and myopathy, neurorehabilitation and neuropathic pain grow together, making it a leading center for the diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases in South China.

A Guangdong provincial characteristic key discipline and an Asia-Pacific training center of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders. General Surgery houses the Jinan University Runliang Minimally Invasive Surgery Research Institute, the Jinan University Obesity and Metabolism Research Institute, the China Clinical Medical Research Center for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, the Jinan University–University of Hong Kong Joint Laboratory of Metabolic Medicine, the editorial office of the Chinese Journal of Obesity and Metabolic Diseases, and the thyroid surgery minimally invasive training center. It is the chair unit of the Obesity and Diabetes Surgery Committee of the Surgical Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the immediate past president unit of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (Asia-Pacific).
