2,400 km to China for Life-Saving Heart Care | 39-Year-Old Bangladeshi Heart Attack Patient Treated in Guangzhou

A life-saving journey spanning 2,400 km unfolded in Guangzhou. In August 2025, Mark, a 39-year-old man from Bangladesh, suffered an acute myocardial infarction. With the dedicated efforts of the cardiovascular medicine team at the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, he was brought out of danger and successfully underwent emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Mark is from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. After suffering an acute myocardial infarction and receiving initial treatment at a local clinic, he made the decision to travel to China. After a four-hour flight covering 2,400 km, he arrived in Guangzhou and was urgently transferred to the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University.
Every minute mattered. Professor Li Zicheng, Director Wu Shaorong, and Director Lan Xianwu from the hospital's Department of Cardiovascular Medicine quickly formed a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide emergency care. Drawing on advanced interventional techniques and extensive clinical experience, the team successfully performed emergency PCI and implanted a stent to rapidly reopen the blocked vessel, significantly improving the patient's condition. The efficient and coordinated treatment process earned sincere gratitude from the patient and his family, who expressed their highest respect to all the medical staff involved.
